GigaZone Gaming Cosplay Contest Rules and Regulations *
Whether you come screen perfect as an epic Anime character or representing the video game that changed your world, all are welcome to compete for clout and fabulous prizes in our annual Cosplay contest! Come on out and show off your attention to detail and passion for creativity while striking a pose for our judges and the camera!
Costumes will be judged on the following criteria:
- Accuracy to source: How accurate the costume is to the source character. The cosplayer is encouraged to be specific who they used as a reference so a good example can be seen by judges (I.E. a specific skin for a League of Legends character), If the character is original to the cosplayer, this may be difficult.
- Craftsmanship: Impressiveness of the technique’s general craftsmanship of the costume. Well stitched fabric, impeccable make-up, and great painting of props are all examples of this fall under this category.
- Interesting functions/wow factor: Extra functions/features of a costume. Lights, moving wings, puppetry, moving mechanisms and such which are impressive and attention grabbing. This is rated both by “wow” of the feature, and difficulty to create the feature.
- Originality: Creative representations of a character, or representation of an under-used character. This can also include a creative way to cosplay in general.
NOTE: Your costume must be age-appropriate. Nudity is NOT a costume. Just because some comics and anime show it doesn’t mean it’s acceptable here.
Judging
- Cosplay entry closes at 4 PM
- Cosplay winners will be announced at 6 PM
Replica Props/Weapons
Replica weapons, if a part of your costume, are allowed with the following rules:
- BLADED PROPS: No Live-bladed weapons. Any swords/daggers/spears/etc. must be made from non-metal materials such as resin, foam, worbla, or other materials. If your costume has a sword or knife that is metal, it must be peace-bonded and completely unable to be drawn from a sheath or scabbard. Peace-bonded weapons are attached to a scabbard or sheath using plastic zip ties in any color.
- GUN PROPS: Because people are always concerned when firearms are involved, we must take every precaution to put the public at ease and not cause panic. Gun props are allowed if the following conditions are met. AIRSOFT REPLICAS: Airsoft replicas are allowed but must be rendered unable to fire. This means they must be free of batteries or CO2/gas. Triggers must be depressed and peace bonded/secured with a Brightly Colored plastic zip tie to prove they cannot be fired. They will be provided for you if you do not have zip ties. Barrels MUST have some marking to denote they are not real weapons. Pistols MUST be holstered. Rifles should have a sling. Rifles also MUST have a brightly colored barrel blocker AND Orange muzzle. ALL REPLICA WEAPONS WILL BE CHECKED BY OUR STAFF BEFORE BEING ALLOWED.
